"I Never Hear the Word 'Escape'" by Emily Dickinson

I never hear the word "escape"

    Without a quicker blood

    A sudden expectation,

    A flying attitude!

I never heard of prisons broad

    By soldiers battered down,

But I tug childish at my bars,

    Only to fail again!

    Writing Prompt:

Write an essay in which you analyze the poem's ideas and discuss the speaker's meaning.  Explain the metaphor.  What is this prison, and where is it?  What is the speaker's attitude about escape?  Include details and quotations from the poem to support your ideas.
