Brawley High School Women’s & Men’s Athletic Hall of Fame

Brawley High School Women’s & Men’s Athletic Hall of Fame serves as a means of recognizing, preserving, and honoring the athletes, teams, and coaches who made significant contributions to Brawley High School athletic programs. Athletic nominees must have graduated 10 years prior to the nominations. All nominees must exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and moral character. Nominations to the Brawley High School Women’s & Men’s Athletic Hall of Fame are welcome at any time. All nominations must be submitted prior to the established deadline. Nominations will be considered by the Brawley High School Athletic Hall of Fame committee only if submitted with the required supporting documentation materials. The athletic nominee must have graduated 10 years prior to nominations and meet the criteria listed below.

Brawley High School Women’s & Men’s Athletic Hall of Fame Categories and Criteria

 

ATHLETE  

The following criteria will be considered:

  • Nominee must have graduated from Brawley High School at least 10 years prior to nomination.

  • Nominee must have participated and lettered in varsity athletics at Brawley High School.

  • Nominee was a top player on a varsity team and distinguished themselves in varsity athletics at the high school level or beyond.  Examples:  Most Valuable Player/Player of Year/Outstanding Player, Athlete of the Year, Collegiate Athlete, Professional Athlete

Other criteria to be considered:

  • Nominee was top player in league conference

    • 1st or 2nd team All-League

  • Nominee was top player in CIF/State competition

    • 1st team/2nd team/honorable mention in CIF

    • State Champion/2nd, 3rd, or 4th place in State (individual sports)

  • Nominee distinguished themselves in post-secondary sports.  Examples: Junior College/Collegiate/Professional Athlete/National or International competition

  • Prominent citizen in their community

 

COACH

The following criteria will be considered:

  • The nominee has made a major impact coaching their sport.

  • The nominee has provided support for career and college opportunities ( references, phone calls, post high school guidance/information, etc).

  • The nominee has led their team to league and CIF success.

  • The nominee has received recognition as an outstanding coach.

 

TEAMS

The following criteria will be considered:

  • Teams participating in CIF semi-final games to CIF Championship game.

 

Procedures for Nominations to Brawley High School Women’s & Men’s Athletic Hall of Fame

 

  1. Anyone can nominate a person to be considered for Athletic Hall of Fame.

  2. All nominations must be submitted on the official Brawley High School Women’s & Men’s Athletic Hall of Fame nomination form.  Forms are available on BUHS website (brawleyhigh.org), Athletic Director’s office (760-312-6065), and Brawley High School main office.

  3. In addition to the official nomination form, the following support materials must be submitted for consideration (copies accepted): 

    • A letter of recommendation from the nominating person.

    • Documentation of achievements:  Newspaper clippings/yearbook/ magazine articles, letter of recommendation/verification of an athlete’s accomplishments from coach of sport, and statistics that substantiate the accomplishments and contributions of the nominee, if available, along with year, league and conference information.

    • Individual picture (head shot) and action shot in nominee’s sport (if available).

4.  All nominations received for consideration must contain active and current addresses and contact information for nominee (or their family if they are deceased). Nominations can be considered by Hall of Fame committee only if submitted with required support materials.  Please gather as much information as possible.

Once the nomination packet has been received by Hall of Fame Committee, the nominator will be notified by email.  Following the initial nomination, the nominee’s information will remain on file with the Brawley High School Athletic Director.  Nomination Packets must be received prior to the established deadline of June 1st, 2023 to be considered for the Brawley High School Women’s & Men’s Athletic Hall of Fame Induction.
