A sea of blue and yellow covered Warne Field on Thursday June 5th 2025 as the Brawley Union Wildcats gathered to celebrate their long awaited graduation. After four years of responsibility, resiliency, and dedication at Brawley Union high school students finally saw their hard work pay off.

The ceremony commenced at 8 p.m with an honorary procession led by Principal Sanchez, Superintendent Canalez and Board of Trustees. As they made their way around the field, graduating seniors followed behind waving to their families and friends. Cheers could be heard from the stands while students wave at their family and friends.

To began the ceremony Brawley Union High School cadets presented the color guard for the school. Alumna, Kayla Kemp sang the national anthem. Sharing the stage with her was her brother, BUHS Class President Braden Kemp who took the podium to address the graduates and guest.

Following Kemp's address, he began his speech highlighted BUHSD staff their work, teachers and senior class advisors, Counselor Susan Villon and his mother Cindy Hardie. As a gesture of gratitude, both were presented with plaques honoring their guidance. For Mrs. Villon, this ceremony held special significance, as it marked her final graduating class before retirement after decades of service.

Honorary students Kayle Cruz and Amanda Mapes delivered inspiring speeches reflecting on their time at BUHS.

With the affirmation of class and certification of graduation, the moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived. As counselor Wise called Adrian Acevedo Alvarez’s name the ceremonial walk across the stage began. One by one, graduates stepped forward to receive their diploma, greeted by the Board of Trustees who stood eagerly to congratulate them.

The Class of 2025, composed of over 430 graduates., now looks ahead to new adventures. Wether it be in college, trade school or in the military- Wildcats are ready. Many graduates decorated their caps to reflect their future paths but also photos of their loved ones.

As the ceremony drew to a close, the stands erupted into cheers. Fireworks illuminated the night sky, and Lorde’s ‘Ribs’ echoed through the field. Graduates embraced, laughter filled the air and the Wildcats bid farewell to their high school years.
