Dig Pink Game honors Brawley student

Brawley Union High School Volleyball held its annual Dig Pink game in honor of cancer awareness. Originally created to support those battling breast cancer, the tradition has evolved to recognize and support individuals affected by all forms of cancer.

This year, Brawley partnered with Imperial High School Volleyball to raise funds for a local recipient. On Tuesday, October 14th, the community packed the stands—not just to cheer on their teams, but to stand together in solidarity and support.

Between the junior varsity and varsity matches, the teams paused for a heartfelt honor ceremony. Brawley Union High School’s Bonnine Munguia took the microphone to speak about sportsmanship and to recognize this year’s recipient—a student currently enrolled at BUHS who is courageously battling cancer. Although the student could not attend, their sibling stood in their place on the court. In a powerful moment of unity, players from both Brawley and Imperial linked arms in support.

The varsity team capped off the night with a win over Imperial, but the true victory was the spirit of compassion and community that filled the gym. Both the freshman and junior varsity teams secured victories against Imperial, each winning with a score of 2–1.
