Brawley FFA excels With First‑Place Livestock Judging Win

The Brawley FFA Livestock Judging Team earned 1st place at the California FFA Hemet CDE Field Day. The team is made up of five students enrolled in agriculture courses at Brawley Union High School, including Animal Science and Introduction to Agriculture. They proudly represented not only Brawley FFA, but also the entire Imperial Section.

Livestock judging challenges students to evaluate and rank several species—lambs, goats, and swine—in both market and breeding classes. Competitors must also present oral reasons to justify their placings. This event goes far beyond simply selecting animals; it requires students to analyze structure, balance, and overall quality while strengthening their critical thinking and communication skills.

The Brawley team excelled with an outstanding team score of 1467, securing first place.
