Eight Wins, One Wildcat Legacy Girls wrestling wins cif title

The Brawley Union High School girls’ wrestling team continued its dominance, securing its eighth consecutive CIF San Diego Division II championship. With an impressive 265.5 points, the Wildcats claimed the title once again.

On Saturday, February 7, the team hit the mats at San Ysidro High School in San Diego, with 14 wrestlers ready to defend their streak. Thirteen athletes placed, and four Wildcats—Jenessa Ubence, Camille Torres, Lauren Zaragoza, and Madison Vandiver—earned first place in their weight classes.

The team now advances to Masters in two weeks on February 21, 2026, at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista.

Senior wrestler Madison Vandiver was also selected as the San Diego Union‑Tribune Athlete of the Week for February 2026. She was additionally honored as the Elks Teen of the Month and recognized by Valley Sports Network as Wrestler of the Match.

Madison shared, “Being part of wrestling and holding our legacy is pretty awesome. I love having this great team and coaches who help build us up—not just muscle, but mentally.”
