On Monday, April 27th, two scholar-athletes from Brawley Union High School were honored as the top male and female BUHS senior scholar-athletes in the San Diego CIF Section during the San Diego High School Sports Association’s annual Scholar Athlete Awards ceremony.
Senior Jacey Reeves is an exceptional dual‑sport athlete, competing in both flag football and track and field. She made history as Brawley’s first two‑time Flag Football MVP, earning the honor in consecutive seasons during the program’s four‑year history. Her accomplishments include being named the 2025–2026 CIF Mission Fed Student‑Athlete of the Year, the 2024 San Diego Girls Flag Football Showcase MVP, and the 2023 and 2024 Sprinter of the Year in track and field.

Senior Jayden Travis has competed in basketball and track and field for all four years at Brawley Union High School. Serving as team captain this year, he helped lead his team to a second‑place finish in league. He is also a three‑year varsity player, demonstrating consistency, leadership, and dedication throughout his athletic career. His accomplishments are impressive, including being named the 2024–2025 Defensive Player of the Year, 2025–2026 MVP, 2024 and 2025 Male Jumper of the Year in track and field, 2025 Track and Field MVP, and 2025 Male Hurdler of the Year.

“Both students represent the very best of Brawley Union High School,” said Athletic Director Billy Brewer. “Their work ethic, character, and commitment set a standard for others to follow. We’re proud of what they’ve accomplished and even more excited to see what they’ll achieve next.
